Yin Yoga for Better Digestion

Pop-up class with Cathy Blatchly

WHEN: Friday, May 8th from 6-7pm

Let Go and Create Space in your Body, Mind and Spirit
The Gut is referred to as the Enteric Brain. It is home to ~50% of the dopamine and 95% of the serotonin in our body. It is the seat of our intuition which is why we say “trust your gut”. The gut-brain axis is the connection between the GI system and the central nervous system. The GI tract has the ability to sense and receive impulses as well as to record emotions and subconsciously remember experiences.

Focus on Rest and Digest using Yin and Restorative Yoga
Yin yoga focuses on compressing and releasing fascial tissues and opening specific energy channels (meridians) in the body. In the Taoist tradition, the internal organs are referred to Palaces of our Soul or Spirit and are treated like shrines of the divine within us. Connecting to each organ’s qualities and caring for them with visualizations are natural ways to increase their individual functions and interdependent homeostasis. According to ancient Asian wisdom, there are 5 organ
pairs each of which are connected to interconnecting highways called meridans, channels or nadis traveling through them and linking up the whole body. These invisible highways move life force (prana or chi) (Lit from Within by Sarah Powers)

The 5 Rs of Gut Health: Remove, Repair, Restore, Replace, Reinvigorate
This class will focus on the stomach and spleen meridians with long held floor poses, standing poses (belly swirling and pumping) and a long guided Savasana to create space in the outer and inner body and promote optimal digestion.

In addition we will use pranayama and belly self massage to further address opening
and releasing the heart and small intestines.

with Nikki Wright, LMT

WHEN: Saturday, June 13th from 1-4pm

You are invited to join Nikki Wright, LMT & John F. Barnes Myofascial ReleaseTM therapist, for this fun, informative, & interactive workshop where we will take a deep dive into exploring the body’s fascia (connective tissue) system and the relationship it has with our body’s aches, pains, and tension. We will also discuss the interesting relationship between the nervous system and the fascia system and the effect they have on each other. Some topics that will be covered:

  • How fascia is arranged in the body, as well as its function & purpose.
  • How it stores and holds tissue memory and emotions.
  • How the fascia system connects to and communicates with all other systems in the body.
  • The relationship between the fascia system and the nervous system.
  • The effects untreated fascial restrictions can have on the body over time and how fascial pain is often mis- or un-diagnosed.
  • And so much more!

Nikki will demonstrate and guide you through a variety of techniques such as breathing exercises, guided imagery, and a small handful of somatic exercises to help you begin to connect to your body & spirit. You will learn simple MFR (Myofascial Release) self-treatment exercises to help treat common areas of tension, pain, or dysfunction. Gathering Within: a Ceremony of Cacao + Sound

with Caroline Dickinson

WHEN: Saturday, July 11th from 6:30-8pm

This heart-centered ceremony invites you to slow down, soften, and turn inward - creating space for reflection, renewal, and emotional warmth during the expansive energy of summer. Drinking cacao opens the heart and supports deeper connection, helping you tune in to your inner world and listen to the wisdom within.

Join Caroline for an evening of intentional presence and gentle exploration. Together, we’ll move through guided journaling to illuminate what is ready to be released or nurtured, meditation to ground and center your being, breathwork to create spaciousness within, and a soothing sound bath to bring harmony to the heart’s natural rhythm.

Inspired by the long-standing tradition of cacao as a sacred plant medicine for connection and community, this gathering honors a time of openness, growth, and full expression. As the days are longer and the light lingers, we’re invited to pause, receive, and reconnect with what feels most alive within us.

This sacred experience offers a supportive container to reflect, feel, and realign - opening to gratitude, clarity, and ease as we rest in stillness and reconnect with ourselves.
Come as you are, and leave feeling centered, open, and deeply nourished
